More expertise can always help perhaps, and that can be aided by the younger generation. It is passion and commitment that are more important in the long-term interests of the goal of equality, etc. If SF were to accept educated and professional people, like Fergal McKinney for example, then it’s a non-starter, as the people of Fermanagh South Tyrone, West Tyrone and the rest are not to be taken for fools. The Stoops in their anti republican hatred ignored the wishes of the people of FST and these things are never forgotten. Looking forward, Margaret Ritchie could become the leader of a new unionist unity org to replace Peter Robinson and Sir Reg. She could put Corporal T Burns as liaison Officer with Sir Arrogance McDonnell as CO. I have a vision of a Blackadder type situation where Corporal Burns is polishing General Melchett’s boots and the General is asking what regiment he’s from, to which Burns replies, “The Stoops Sir”. “Ah” says Melchett, who’s your CO? Corp Burns replies, “Lady Ritchie of Westminster”. Melchett roars, “Damn fine filly, as anti rebel as you can get, one of our best.”<br /><br />The issue of providing real education for people in the north, as your piece suggests, would clear away the bullshit that has kept many people locked into a dependency on politicians and bureaucrats who wish to keep them in that state of dependency, i.e. “we know whats best for you”.
